Ten Parents to Win $1,000 Each in College Savings Deposits in Special Drawing

Registration is open for a special drawing of a $1,000 college savings deposit that 10 Iowa parents and guardians of students in eighth through 12th grades will be randomly selected to receive after March 31, 2022. The drawing is sponsored by ISL Education Lending.
Current registrants and any parent or guardian registered for the information service, SP3 or Student Planning Pointers for Parents, by March 31, 2022, will be entered into the special drawing. Additionally, registrants who read each month's articles and answer brief survey questions are entered into quarterly drawings for 529 college savings plan deposits. Each quarter, 40 random winners are chosen for the $250 deposits. The next quarterly drawing will take place April 1, 2022.
The free information service is delivered via twice-monthly emails to parents and guardians who sign up at www.IowaStudentLoan.org/SP3 and is provided in partnership with College Savings Iowa, ICAN, the Iowa School Counselor Association and Strada Education Network.
"I'm so glad I signed up … when my daughter was in 8th grade," said 2020 winner and school counselor Audrey Bell of Ankeny, Iowa. "I find the brief articles to be insightful and informative for both of us." She continued, "I'm also a lucky winner of one of the $250 savings plan deposits! I set up a 529 plan, which was super easy to do." Ms. Bell said she had no issues having the award transferred to her 529 account.
"My initial thought was that it would be a long-shot to win in the quarterly drawings, but at least I would get some good information about planning for college," said 2020 winner Brenda Swailes of Cedar Falls, Iowa. "I read each article and filled out the surveys, and was pleasantly surprised when I received the email … saying I was one of the winners of a $250 deposit," she continued. "I won … the first time I participated … I only wish I had known about it when the program first launched in January of 2020."
Articles are carefully researched and informed by 40 years of experience in the higher education industry. Additionally, parents and guardians are provided with multiple resources to further explore topics of particular interest.
The information is targeted to specific grade levels to correspond with students' current stages. The consistent format explains why the topic is important, what students can do now, additional steps they should take later and what parents can do. In addition, talking points are provided as a guideline for approaching the topic with students.
